The Agreement

December 11, 2012 – The First Constitutional Affairs Committee of the Italian Chamber of Deputies approved the Agreement entered into by and between the Italian Government and the Italian Buddhist Union. This act ends the long process for the institutional recognition of Buddhism in Italy.

On this occasion, the Board of Directors wishes to remember the figure of the Italian Buddhist Union promoter, Vincenzo Piga, for his vision and his work, and those who collaborated to obtain this extraordinary result.

January 17, 2013 – The law on the Agreement with the Italian Buddhist Union was published in the Gazzetta Ufficiale, and therefore became enforceable. Today marks the beginning of a new path for Italian Dharma practitioners, and their rights to actively participate in an inclusive citizenship, where faith and spiritual research are an added value, are fully recognized.
